The Week In Politics 9-13-09

This has been an interesting week in the political world. It started with the resignation of Van Jones at midnight on 9-5-09, Saturday night. Seems like a strange time to resign but it works well if you want to delay attention to it. Of course this was on Labor Day weekend just before the President was due to address the AFL-CIO picnic in Cincinnati, OH, so it was best to keep the news low key before that event I’m sure.

Some ACORN workers are caught trying to help a prostitute and her pimp boyfriend (a pair of young budding journalist undercover) trying to buy a house and legitimize prostitution, this includes how to make it look legal on taxes and what write-offs they can take, oh yea, also how to stay out of trouble when they bring under aged illegal immigrants in to work the business. This happened at two different ACORN offices. Of course ACORN officials are denying all of this and saying it’s just a smear campaign, if so then why have they fired the workers that were caught on tape at these two offices? The real twist to this is that the state of Maryland may be trying to go after the young filmmaker for illegally taping the conversations, and where is the corruption in all this? These events led to the Census Bureau severing its ties with ACORN, at least some good has happened.

Cass Sustein was confirmed by the Senate this week, I can only hope that he will actually do his job and not use the position to push his radical agenda, although there isn’t a lot of hope that it will be that way.

And then there is the President, before I start commenting on his week I want everyone to understand that I in no way want to see the President fail, any President, I want to see America succeed, if that means going against what the current President wants then so be it. The President is an elected official, as I heard one talk show host state, he is the executor of the American peoples will (as in desires, not last will and testament), he is not the King of America. On that note here’s what he had in store for us this week, as already mentioned he spoke at the AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic in Cincinnati, OH where he gave great support to the Unions, this is the President that says we should not be listening to special interest groups, at least not if they go against his agenda. He also stated at that event that if it weren’t for Unions we would not be where we are today, well that could very well be true, just not in the context he meant. I’ve never been in a Union and probably never will be, to me they are one more organization that may have started out with good intentions but have succumbed to money and power and are using the backs of American workers to gain political and financial power, they have outlived their usefulness. The President also gave a speech to a joint session of the House, something that is normally reserved for emergency or critical situations, maybe in his opinion this was, but it looks more like a last ditch effort to get his health care reform back on track. I will give my take on the speech below. And then we have the 9-12 rally in Washington DC, which I wish I could have been a part of, but I guess the President didn’t want to be since he went to Minnesota to pitch his Health Care Plan. How many times do you have to waste taxpayer dollars flying all across the nation to pitch the same thing we watch on TV or hear on the radio which we can’t even vote on? Congress will vote on the bill and the President will sign it or not, regardless of what we the American people say about it, that is evident by the form letters we get back from our Congressional members and the phone calls that go unanswered when we try to call them, so this trip was either just another waste of taxpayer dollars or a dodge from the events going on in Washington.

Evaluation of the Presidents address to the joint session of the House

Due to length I will not post the entire transcript of the Presidents speech here, I will post the link to it separately so anyone can look at it.

The first thing that struck me was the statement that he is not the first President to take up this cause. That is very true; Roosevelt first started trying to reform Health Care in the 40’s, that is also when we started really seeing the Progressive movement begin in politics. Progressives want to take your rights and make them privileges doled out by the Government as they see fit, to redistribute wealth as the key phrase goes now. There is a reason the bill first introduced by John Dingell Sr. in 1943 continues to be re-introduced every session by his son without getting passed, the American people don’t want it.

Next the President stated: “We are the only democracy -- the only advanced democracy on Earth”. We are not a democracy, we are a Republic. In 1905 an organization called the Intercollegiate Socialist Society (ISS) started in New York. This organizations goal was to bring socialism to America. Later they changed their name to the League for Industrial Democracy. Due to the efforts of this group and others around the globe to bring about Democratic Socialism the word Democracy became a euphemism for socialism. Call it a pet peeve or nit picking but the President of the United States of America should know that America is a Republic and should use the correct word to describe the country, unless he is trying to send a different message. Most people do not know the difference, yes we are a Democratic Republic, both words are there, but we are not a democracy, they are completely different things.

The President went on to talk about the rising cost of health care in America. It’s true, health care costs are rising on nearly a daily basis and it’s out of control. There are good reasons for it. Doctors are paying more and more in malpractice insurance due to more and more medical law suits. Sure there are plenty of these, probably the majority of them are reasonable law suits, where the Doctor should loss his or her license and payment should be due to the victims of improper or in-correct care, but there are many out there that are plain and simple scams by law suit happy people just looking for ways to make a buck and ambulance chasing lawyers. We need mal-practice reform but we won’t see anything serious in this area because of the number of lawyers in Congress. We also have rising costs from covering people that do not have insurance either by choice or because they can not afford it and still go to the Doctor or emergency room for every little hang nail. Not everyone abuses this type of care but many do, not everyone taking advantage of this is an illegal alien either but many are and that is wrong. If you want to lower costs there just require proof of citizen ship before any care and put into place some type of plan that will cover those that need it, but it should be only the most basic of care, we don’t want people to stay on a plan like that, we want them to better themselves, (not the Government better them) and work their way up to where they can afford better health care. Now don’t get me wrong, if an illegal came in needing care I would give it to them at the basic level and then they would be on a plane, train, bus or horse cart back to whatever country they came from. Along these same lines he went on to say that health care is our deficit problem, really, what about TARP (yes a Bush 43 problem), what about the stimulus, what about Cash for Clunkers, what about Federal employee pay being out of control? There are plenty of causes for our deficit and national debt being out of control, why don’t we start there and freeze all the out of control spending from Washington and then look at solving the problems of health care.

Later the President states that what he has seen so far in the attempts to reform health care have been the same partisan tactics and scare tactics instead of honest debate and compromise. I try to listen to both sides as much as I can stand and I have heard plenty of ideas coming from both sides that if they worked on they could come out with some plan that might actually work. The President stated it was time for the bickering to stop and the scare tactics to stop, later in the speech the President used his own form of scare tactics and Chicago style thug politics. He stated that if we don’t do something more people will lose their health care and die, what is this a bedtime story or a scare tactic? He also stated toward the end that he would call out those that misrepresent the plan, well I do agree, it should not be misrepresented by anyone, including the President, but the way the President stated it this was an out an out threat. Misrepresentation is coming at us from all sides on this issue, death panels or just an offer for end of life choices, cover abortion or is it just not stated as being excluded, cover illegal aliens or is it just not stated as a requirement to prove citizenship, so where is the misrepresentation coming from and just what do you mean by calling you out? Who is using scare tactics now?

Now the plan the President laid out is basically three plans. Now here are the details every American needs to know, hey those are the Presidents words, not mine. As for those words he tends to use them a lot and it tends to tell me he only wants us to know some things but not everything, like the small print that is read really quick during the commercials. Back to the health care plan.

The first part of the plan says you can keep the insurance you have if you are happy with it, which is a good thing. It also places controls on the Insurance Companies, controls that will cap out of pocket expenses, removes caps for catastrophic expenses, remove pre-existing condition clauses and requirements to cover you without loss of coverage for illnesses and for routine preventive care. All of this is good, for the patient, what is bad about it and is not talked about is that in order to do this the Insurance Companies will either raise premiums or lower benefits in order to cover the added risks and expenses they will have to keep their investors happy. To go along with this after the President addressed the other parts of the plan he addressed those that can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it and those companies that can afford to provide coverage for their employees but choose not to. They will be required, his words again, to purchase health care, or in the case of a company, provide health care or pay a fee to help reduce the cost of health care for all, every person will bear responsibility for health care. He likened it to the requirement by many states that you have to purchase auto insurance. Bad analogy, if you want to drive you have to buy auto insurance, full coverage if you have a load to cover the risk of the bank or liability to cover anyone you may injure or damage you may do with your vehicle, the catch is, you are not required to drive, you can walk. We are already living and our actions with respect to health is not going to cause injury or damage of property to another person, he is requiring us to buy something without having a choice to, as his analogy was used, walk.

The second part of his plan was to provide a means of affordable insurance to those that are working and making decent money but still not enough to purchase health insurance. This is the bi-partisan compromise co-op only it’s renamed to an insurance exchange. This was the bone thrown to the republicans in this case. There wasn’t a lot of information on the exchange, just that Insurance Companies could become a part of this exchange and it would provide a choice of plans at lower more affordable costs to the individual. If I am interpreting this right the exchange itself will be like a group policy only available to individuals. It’s not a bad idea, I really wonder why the insurance agency didn’t come up with this on their own, but the down fall would be that there would then be no reason for companies to buy into group plans for their employees so all insurance could potentially fall into this exchange, hmmmmm, wonder if that is the plan behind the curtain. Now comes the kicker, to keep the insurance companies that participate in the exchange honest the Government will establish a “not-for-profit public option”. Yes the public option is still alive and well. This public option will have to self sustaining through the premiums it collects and it will not have the overhead of a private insurance company. The Congressional Budget Office estimates only 5% of Americans will sign up for this public option. Let’s think about this. Less overhead so the premiums can be much lower then private companies so that will be the best option for those that are already tight on money. Those that currently choose not to purchase insurance but can afford it are doing so because they want to spend their money in other places so this would be the best choice for them to. Companies will be given the choice of either providing coverage or paying a fee so this fee will more then likely be less then providing coverage so which direction do you think they will go. Sounds to me like this is a back door method to get everyone onto the public option, which if run by the Government will be a single payer option, that is only my opinion and not stated anywhere.

The third part of the plan is for those that just can not afford insurance even at the reduced rates of the exchange. There will be tax credits to help them be able to buy insurance. There is a good portion of Americans whose income is low enough that they aren’t paying taxes as it is, what kind of tax credit will you give them. Where is the money for these tax credits going to come from? I know a rhetorical question. No where in the plan did the President address the problem of the Americans that are trying to support a family on minimum wage, or the ones that are out of work and every bit of savings they have is or un-employment insurance income is going to keeping their home and food on the table. That is where the current problem with health care is, these are the people that need the help and are probably in the worst health of any other group as a whole in America, these are the ones we should be trying to come up with some kind of plan for.

The President went on to state that under his plan illegal immigrants and abortion would not be covered under his plan. Under HR 3200 it was not stated that illegal immigrants and abortion was covered, it was also not stated that they weren’t covered, which is a back door method of covering them since there is no provision to not cover them. Congressman Wilson from SC yelled out “you lie” which is not really true, although I completely support the Congressman’s sentiment, all he did is state what the plan says, not what it can do, you know political speak strikes again.

Finally we need to remember that this is a crisis, that’s why we need to get this bill that is to long for anyone to read passed right now. If that is true, why are the parts of this bill that will provide coverage going in place in 2013 while the fees and penalties will go into place immediately? In the Presidents defense he did state that for those with pre-existing conditions that have lost their insurance, a plan for low cost insurance will be put into place immediately, that part I can agree with, but will it include the pre-existing condition of low wages or out of work?

The Presidents plan is a back door, let’s make every one think we are looking out for them as we take away their rights, their freedoms and their personal lives plan. This is the way to get the Government Health Care passed while we sit back and think we are being given a good deal. If the Government wants to do something right they should deal with the out of control spending and fraud throughout the Government so that Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security (plans that never should have been passed in the first place) are still there for those that have been paying into it, not be insolvent by 2017 for Medicare and Medicaid by the most recent reports and 2037 for Social Security. With control of spending and a balanced budget without a deficit we could pay down our debt while providing basic health care for the truly needy but at a level that would encourage them to better themselves to be able to afford better health care, part of that would have to be deportation of illegal immigrants to get them off our health care, off our education, and off our social services budgets. I know that sounds cruel and inhuman and racist, it’s not, it’s reality, they broke the law to get here send them home. Before you start blathering about their potential American citizen kids, would you think twice about sending me to jail if I broke the law, even if I was the sole bread winner in my family, not a chance, why should they be different? Every day we take kids away for Americans because they broke the law and would not be there to take care of them, if the kids can’t go back to where ever their parents came from then so be it. Better border controls would be less expensive but we are too nice to possibly offend our neighbors with stricter controls or a fence.


I fear this plan will pass and when it does it will open to door to taking away all our rights. Even though he states his plan will be deficit neutral that may not last. Once passed it will be as easy as a stroke of a pen to increase taxes to cover the health care bill without calling it and without the American public even realizing it. My greatest fear is that it is now out of our hands and up to our politicians in Washington, especially the Democratic party, hopefully there are enough good people left in the Democratic party to stop this.

What is really going on?

I'm not an educated person politically but I'm trying to watch, listen and read any thing I can to learn. One thing that I am picking up on is that our Government, the one we have had in place for over 200 years, is changing rapidly. I'm not talking about the collision course we have been on with Socialism for the last few decades, this is something more. There has been an alarming increase in actual and attempted power shifts into the White House. There has been the drastic increase in the number of Czar's, or Special Presidential Advisers that have been named, that alone with the backgrounds of some of these Czars should be enough to set off bells. We have had an Inspector General fired illegally for doing his job. He was investigating possible abuse of funds to Americorp, one of the branches of ACORN. Next thing we hear is that the President wants to bring the IG office under control of the White House, they are independent so they can do their job, this move will castrate them. Next we hear that the White House wants to take away the job of interrogation of potential terrorists from the CIA and have a special White House team do that job. At about the same time the White House was making a play to pull the vetting process into it's clutches, isn't the vetting process suppose to be the job of Congress? All these moves are going to render the Congress powerless and they are playing right into the hands of the White House. The current administration is trying to take over our health care, our energy, our banks, and our mortgages. When will the power grab stop? When will we as Americans that believe in the Constitution stand up and stop the power grab? The Progressives in Congress think this is the greatest administration ever, will they think the same when they find themselves out of a job? Will they think that way when they wake up and the America they knew is gone? There are no other new worlds to discover, no uninhabited lands where a new country can be started. Somehow we have to save what we have, save the America we all know and put it back on the right track.

Jihad Against the US Constitution

The radical Muslim terrorist groups use the term "Jihad" to band together radicals in the fight for their beliefs, their holy war to expand the Muslim beliefs. In the terrorists groups the leaders of the Jihad will convince their followers that they can become a martyr by becoming homicide / suicide bombers and further the cause of the Jihad. These bombers are the terrorists we have been condemning since 9-11. The leaders of the Jihad are always in the background, making the speeches and reaping the benefits or crying for the failings of their loyal followers, never concerned with the many innocent lives that are lost for the cause, in some cases these innocents are also of the Muslim belief, they are just considered to be necessary casualties of war and more martyrs to the cause, even if they did not choose this end. There are even stories of bombers that would be guaranteed that their families would be taken care of if they became a martyr, not that they would ever know if the other end of the bargain was held up.

Well we are now facing a "Jihad" of our own, one against our Constitution and the Government that we fought so long ago to establish. Our leaders, our politicians in Washington, are making the speeches and giving the rally cries to their followers while smearing any opposition to their belief. If you do not agree with what they are trying to sell you, you are an infidel. Just like the leaders of the terrorist Jihads our politicians are not practicing what they preach. They are telling the American public that the bills they are pushing through are necessary changes for the good of the "people". This agenda they are pushing is moving us away from our capitalistic base and towards a socialistic society, a society that is for the good of all, a redistribution of the wealth, they are going to level the playing field. Do these catch phrases sound like anything you have heard recently? The question is this, is everyone going to move to a more level playing field? Is everyone going to have their wealth redistributed? Probably not. If you know the right people or belong to the right politically connected organization then you are not going to be on the same playing field as the rest of us, you are going to be like the terrorists Jihad leaders, sitting back making the speeches, convincing the masses that they are doing the right thing while you are reaping the benefits. Seems to me the leaders of the jihad against the US Constitution are practicing capitalism, they are capitalizing on the product or service they are offering, which is to kill capitalism in the rest of the nation.

Cash For Clunkers

Once again Cash for Clunkers is in the news. The Government mouthpieces are touting what a great success it has been. The more conservative news media talks about where the money for the program is coming from and questions how successful it really is, the dealers talk about how much of the promised money they have not received, what no one talks about is the back lash that we will be seeing over the next few months.
I agree with the media complaints about where the money is coming from, again I have to state that the Government produces nothing, the money they are spending is coming out of our pockets, so we the tax payers are paying other tax payers to get new cars. I'm not in the market for a new car but I'm helping to pay for thousands of them.
I agree with the complaints the dealers have about the money they were promised for the clunkers, they have honored their end of the deal and now have a lot of money tied up in the Governments great program. The Government on the other hand is not getting the money owed out to the dealers, so how long before we start seeing dealers closing their doors again? Is this just another way for the Government to say "See, we stopped the program and the dealers are failing, we need to keep throwing money at them"?
I even agree with the environmentalist that say the program is going to use more energy and cause more green house gases to destroy the traded in "clunkers" then it would have to just keep driving them. It would have made more sense to do the deals then find the poor working slobs that are being responsible that can not afford new cars even though what they are driving is belching out blue smoke and falling apart and give the traded in "clunkers" to them. Yes I said give them and take the real clunkers off the road. I have seen the supposed "clunkers" in roll off trash containers in front of dealerships, the ones I've seen are not "clunkers".
What I'm not hearing about or hearing very little about is what is going to happen in 3, 6 or even 12 months down the line when the people that took advantage of this wonderful deal realize they can't afford the $35,000 or $40,000 new car they just bought. Last I checked the economy still has not recovered, un-employment is still up, and home foreclosures are still going up. Maybe that's the plan, they will live in their cars. So what is going to happen when they can't make the payments? Are we going to see repo's going up? Are the banks going to get into trouble again? Is the Government going to bail the bank and loan companies out again? Damn I'm starting to sound like Forest Gump.

Health Care

I'm sitting here listening to more reports on Health Care, like there's anything else being talked about, and getting more and more frustrated. The Bills that Congress is proposing just make no sense at all if you even remotely believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We are just looking at one more step in becoming slaves of the Government. Is that how you want to live, I don't!

I don't have the answers to the issue, if I did I'd be in Washington making the big bucks, but I do have some ideas. We do have a problem with people that are out of work or whoever they work for just can't afford a group policy. For those people maybe the Government should step in and provide basic health care. Basic health care could include regular checkups, basic dental, basic optometry and of course basic life saving. I personally have 2 kids that fit in that category. You want more, get a better job or work to improve your situation so you can buy your own insurance. There are plenty of people that chose not to purchase health care, even if it's available through their employer, they would rather spend that money in other ways. To prevent those that don't feel the need to have insurance there should be an maximum income level to qualify for a Government program, remember, keep the Government out of free enterprise, if you are making a good living and don't chose to protect your health then that is your call, not the Governments. For those that have health care insurance there needs to be tort reform and a change to anti-trust laws to allow for more competition between insurance companies. To make it even more helpful change the tax laws to allow 100% write off for necessary health care, not cosmetic surgery and other procedures along those lines, they are a luxury. What ever you do keep the Government away from those that can afford their own health care. Those that are on welfare can do their part also. Anyone on welfare that is below retirement age should have to earn their welfare checks and their Medicaid benefits. There are plenty of parks, roadways, etc that need to be cleaned up. I know some will say that there are those on welfare that just can't work, really? Why? As my Dad keeps pointing out there are people working at WalMart that are confined to wheel chairs and can do little more then smile when you enter the store, they are working and probably damn proud of it too! If you have children you have to take care of, well you can watch other peoples children so they can go to work or clean a park or whatever. Looking for a job and taking drug tests should be a requirement for receiving welfare also, it really makes no sense to provide health care for people that are taking money from the Government and going out and pickling their livers or killing their braincells with drugs. The unemployment laws also need to change to include health care as a part of the unemployment insurance, sure Cobra is fine, but have you ever priced it, it's more expensive and you just lost your job, yea that works.

I'm not in favor of the Government being involved in my life anymore then they already are, in fact I'm in favor of them being involved less then they currently are, but... There are those that could use the help. Any Government program should only be a stop gap measure to help someone get back on their feet. Oh yea, one last thing, no health care other then basic life saving measures for illegals, once they are bandaged and stable they are put on a bus. I'm against illegal immigration but I'm not inhumane.

Random thoughts

Still haven't started on the Bill of Rights but it's coming. I have been doing some out of the box thinking on things that are going on.

Congress seems to be very short sighted when they are proposing bills, they look at the short term only. Cap and Trade for example looks like a great way to reduce green house gas emissions. Let's make it expensive to industries to pollute so they will take measures to reduce the emissions, great right? Not so fast. It's very expensive to update equipment and install exhaust scrubbers and filters and so forth. It's going to be very expensive to purchase carbon credits to keep from being in violation with the law. So who is going to absorb these costs? Well it won't be the power companies, the steel factories, the chemical plants or any other industry, it will be the consumer. As prices go up consumers will have to cut back on what they purchase, this includes utilities. As purchases go down companies will cut back or even close down because they just can't afford to continue operating, more people will lose their jobs and go on un-employment or welfare, fewer people will be paying into taxes and the large industries like power companies will be begging the Government for bailout money. The Government in response to these events will tell the general public that we just can't let the power companies fail so they will pass a bill to keep them going and to transfer control to the Government since the power companies obviously can't manage their own finances. To pay for this our taxes will be raised and more money will be printed therefore leaving less in our wallets and what is left will be worth less, or is that worthless. So now as we sit at home at night taking cold showers, not turning on the lights or TV and eating cold canned beans the Government will be spouting how they saved the Power companies. OK, maybe this is extreme, or is it.

The Health Care bill can be analyzed the same way, only now it will be doctors not making enough money to pay off their student loans or pay their malpractice insurance so they start leaving the country to setup clinics in countries that have less stringent rules where they can continue offering what will be considered optional medical services in the USA, like dialysis, colonoscopies, plastic surgery, and on and on. Now back in the good ole USA doctors are leaving the hospitals and fewer young people are entering the medical field since their is no future in it, the doctors that are idealistic and stayed are now overworked so they start making mistakes, malpractice suits go up causing costs to go up which in turn causes our taxes to go up, remember it's now a Government run program. So now we are sitting in our darkened houses eating cold canned beans but now we are sweating because we have a high fever from taking cold showers and not being able to get proper medical care. Sounds like a plan to me, I've always wondered what it would be to live in the dark ages.

One other thing that kept rattling around in my head this past week was the Professor Gates issue. Before I alienate anyone let me state that I completely disagree with racism, we should judge people by who they are, not their color, gender, age, religious belief or class. Now for the rant. Both parties over acted in this case and that was already covered, but this story has tenticles that stretched farther. A police officer in Boston (if I remember correctly) did a stupid thing by writting an e-mail to other colleagues about the Gates issue and he used racist remarks to describe Gates, not good. He has been suspended and will probably lose his job. I'm not saying one way or the other as to whether that is right or wrong, what I have a problem with is the way the media has treated it. The media is pushing for this officer to be fired since he is obviously a racist and how can he be trusted to work with other racies in the performance of his job. Well..... what about Gates? His rant to the officer was obviously racist also, he is a professor at a university that has black as well as white students, so can he now be trusted to treat the white students fairly in the performance of his job? All I'm saying is what's good for the officer is good for the professor.

Tea Parties

I haven't started in on my next project, going through the Bill of Rights but it will be soon. I did want to comment on the Town Hall meetings that the Representatives are having now that they are on their summer break. When the April 15th Tea Parties were going on the far left media started calling everyone that attended "Tea Baggers". They completely lost the point of the Tea Parties since they were not about taxes like the original Boston Tea Party was. We all know that the Tea Parties were a protest against our out of control Government. Well the recent town hall meetings are heading down the same path the British Parliament did in the 1700's. Our politicians are not listening to the people and they are trying to push through bills that are not in the best interest of the people. These bills are going to increase our taxes at all levels if not right away, eventually. So we are now at a point where we do have outright taxation without representation. Even with this being said I wish to encourage everyone to go to the town hall meetings if possible and have your voice heard.

Declaration of Independence

July 1776 the Continental Congress of the thirteen Colonies of America signed the Declaration of Independence. They were trying to form a Government that would be free from the abuses the Colonies had suffered under the rule of England. We are now suffering many of those same injustices and abuses only now they are in a modern way, a political way. The abuses are to our freedom, our rights and our bank accounts. The politicians of today are trying to change our form of Government into something we will not recognize as being America. They are trying to form a Government that resembles Governments we have fought against throughout history, Governments that we as a nation condemned for performing abuses to their people. Now we are sitting back like a lamb at slaughter meekly allowing our own country to perform the same abuses. Only the people of the land can stop this.

IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence to formally state the reasons why the Colonies were separating from Britain. The leaders of the Colonies, the Continental Congress, determined that it was in the best interest of the people of the Colonies to break with Britain. The Continental Congress first attempted diplomacy by sending emissaries to England requesting the King to intervene with the Parliament on behalf of the Colonies. In the Declaration he puts forth the basis for what the new Government would be formed on. He also stated the injustices the Colonies had suffered at the hand of the King of England.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

Thomas Jefferson plainly stated that he believed all men were created equally. There was no separation between classes when it comes to rights, the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. These rights were given to man by their creator, not by a King and they certainly could not be taken from man by King. He goes on to say that Governments are needed to ensure these rights but the Governments are formed with just powers granted by the governed, by the people of the land. He also states that when the Government losses sight of the rights of men and becomes destructive to the rights of men, the people of the land have the right to change that Government and to institute a new one. It does not say that the Government has the right to alter or abolish the rights of men. Our current Government is doing that and has been working in that direction for decades. Just as the Colonies in the 1700’s put up with many abuses before they took the final step of the American Revolution. Forming a new country is not an undertaking that should be taken lightly. Many injustices can be overlooked when they are minor and do not affect the rights of man. When the injustices come in the form of tyranny, absolutism or dictatorship over the people they can no longer be overlooked and ignored. The following facts were put forth against the King of England; many of these are being subtly repeated today.

· He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

The King refused to pass laws for the good of the Colonies. Instead he passed laws that were for the good of England at what ever price to Colonies. Our current Government is passing laws that are good for the Government and those in power; they are not necessarily good for the people.

· He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

This is an example of Dictatorship, he had ultimate control, and no law could be passed, regardless of the importance and urgency without his assent. Our current Government is working towards a form of Dictatorship, towards a Tyrannical Government.

· He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

Refusing to pass laws for the accommodations of large distracts can be likened to passing laws mandating what States will do, taking away the sovereignty of the States.

· He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

· He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

· He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

· He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

The current Government has not prevented population of these States, instead for many administrations they have turned a blind eye to illegal immigration.

· He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

· He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

Past and present administrations have selected Judges for the Supreme Court based on the administrations beliefs, not on whether or not the Judges will interpret the law in a fair and unbiased manner.

· He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

Currently we have 30+ Czars that have been appointed by The President. These Czars are not confirmed by anyone. They may not have any official powers but they have the confidence of the President. The administration is placing power in the hands of organizations (ACORN) that have interests that go against the form of Government that the Founding Fathers put into place. These special interest groups are granted powers of the people that infringe on our basic rights.

· He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

There is not currently a standing army operating within the borders of the United States, but… President Obama has stated that he wants to have a civilian security forced as well funded and armed as the Military. This is a standing army that can be used against the people of the United States. We already have security forces; every law enforcement agency in the USA is a security force, including Border Guards, Customs Agents, the FBI and Federal Marshals. Why do we need another? He has stated the every man and woman between the age of 18 to 25 would be required to serve the community, is this a method of manning the civilian security force? Is this a step to becoming a citizen? Does this sound like a Communist type plan?

· He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

In this case the balance of power keeps going back and forth, the Republicans keep trying to enlarge the Military while the Democrats try to make it smaller.

· He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

Once again look at ACORN and other “Community Organizers”.

· For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

· For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

· For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

Our trade with other parts of the world is not being cut off, but for decades our manufacturing is being driven out by the Government to other parts of the world.

· For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

Every earmark and pork barrel project that gets injected into proposed bills is taxation without our consent. Continuing Government funded projects that are failing is taxation without our consent. The current Universal Health Care and the Cap and Trade bills are taxation without our consent. Any way you look at it the current bills in Congress are going to raise taxes that will eventually trickle down to all classes. Once they are passed Congress has an open door to levy taxes on everyone.

· For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

· For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences

· For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

· For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

The Constitution, which is the USA’s Charter, is slowly being taken away. Our laws are being altered from a Republic form of Government to a Socialist form of Government. Every thing the USA has stood up against for more then 200 years is being slowly force fed to us while being sugar coated so the American people don’t realize they are losing their rights.

· For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

The administration is trying to bring the Inspector Generals Office under the power of the White House. The Inspector Generals are an independent office put into place to ensure they are not influenced in the performance of their duties. They are a check and balance against wrongs performed by the Government. If they are under the power of the White House there will not be that independence, that check and balance.

· He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

· He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

· He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

· He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

· He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Instead of using savages to create insurrections our own President has subtly keep race and religion, and immigration issues alive to create insurrections.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

The repeated injury in the current Government is that our Representatives in Congress, who are elected by the people to represent us do not answer letters or calls or when they do they vote against what the people have requested. To compound this many of the Representatives will not even read the bills they are signing, as long as they are getting the pork barrel projects they want in them. This is not in the best interest of the people, this is a power play.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We too have warned them from time to time, we have voted new parties into office, we have written letters, made phone calls, all to no avail. We have had our tea parties to demonstrate the modern wrongs of the current Government. The Government has ignored these signs and warnings. Regardless of which party is in power the Government has continued on its march to a new form of Government, a form in which the people no longer have a say. A form in which the people are little more then slaves to do the bidding of the Government. We will no longer be able to follow our dreams, the American Dream; we will be required to walk the path the Government has chosen for us. Good or bad with our Republic we have the right to live our lives and pursue whatever level of success is within our own capabilities.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

Is it time again to declare our Independence? We are fighting a different type of war this time; it’s a war of information. This war is being fought daily by those in the media; unfortunately the people of America are split. Those who want to be comforted by the Government will not accept or believe any argument that goes against the Government. They will have to learn by experience alone, they want to forget their worries and let the Government take care of them, put everyone on the same level. They believe that no matter what class you are we should spread the wealth around. They will continue to believe this until they are lowered from the level they are at now to a lower class. They will continue to believe that the rich and powerful will share their wealth with everyone else until they are living in Government subsidized housing and the rich and powerful are still living in their multi-million dollar homes getting richer off the rest, the servants of the new States of America. We need a new American Revolution, only this time we need to use our votes and our voices, not to declare independence from America but to maintain the America we know now.

Open Your Eyes and Mind

With recent events in this country three questions come to mind:

1. When will the average citizen open their eyes and minds and realize what is really happening?

2. How long will this last, before the average citizen says enough?

3. What can the average citizen do to change what’s happening?

The first thing that has to happen is we, the collective we of the average citizens of America, need to open our eyes and our minds to see what is happening to our country. This country as it is now was founded on three very basic principles, or better yet rights. The RIGHT to LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS these are rights only, not privileges, and definitely not guarantees. A right means every one of us has the right to life within the laws of the land, the right to have our liberty and freedom as long as we live within the laws, and the right to pursue happiness both within the laws and within our own abilities. Our Founding Fathers envisioned this country to be a country bound in fair laws not to be restrictive of our rights but to ensure our rights were not infringed on by others, both within our borders and beyond our borders. Our Founding Fathers intentionally created as small a Government as possible with the power being with the people to prevent the Government from infringing on those rights. In designing this Government they designed and set into motion a Republic with Representative Democracy; Republic meaning a Government in which the head of Government is not a monarch and the people have an impact on the Government, Representative Democracy meaning representatives elected by the people and charged with the responsibility of acting in the best interest of the people. The representatives are empowered the authority to exercise swift and resolute initiative in the face of changing circumstances. The collective WE have lost sight of both our rights and of how our Government is suppose to work for us.

Part of having a RIGHT is having the responsibility to accept our lot in life, as long as that “lot in life” is solely due to our own personal limitations. Not every one will be a successful business who legally earns millions of dollars through hard work and lives the lifestyle he/she has earned by doing so. Some of us are destined to be manual laborers and hired help. What right do we have to belittle the successful or to expect them to support us? NONE! We are a free nation with free market capitalism where every one has a chance to reach their own level of legal success without penalties. Why should we penalize those more successful then ourselves? Many Americans have forgotten this or have so little pride in themselves that they refuse to accept this and will make every attempt to have others carry their personal burdens for them.

Our Government has also forgotten what our rights are what their role and duty is to uphold our rights. The Government was formed to protect us from any infringement on those rights and to pass just laws to ensure those rights. The Founding Fathers were wise enough to know that a land without a governing body or to small of a governing body would be a land where only the strongest and most devious survive, but a land with just enough of a governing body to ensure domestic tranquility would allow the people to control the growth of that governing body and maintain it within reasonable boundaries. Our Government was also tasked with protecting our country as a whole from enemies both foreign and domestic, meaning they were to protect our borders from invasion and to protect our trade routes. They were also tasked with regulating interstate trade, keeping the trade between states regular and fair. That was the Government our Founding Fathers envisioned and set into place, not the Government we are seeing today.

In the design of the Government the head of the Government was to be anything other then a tyrant, monarch, king or hereditary position. George Washington insisted on being called President to separate us from the monarchies of Europe. The President was elected OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people, to quote President Abraham Lincoln from his Gettysburg Address. In other words the President was just another American chosen by his/her peers with the best interest of the people and their rights. Over the past several decades our Government has evolved into something entirely different. It’s ruled, not by common sense and responsibility to the citizens of America, but by big money, special interests and political power grabs. They pass laws that protect the well connected elite and over stuff bills with pork barrel spending in efforts to hide these misuses of taxpayer dollars from the general citizenry. The big two political parties have orchestrated laws that all but ensure the common citizen will not be able to gain political office and have turned campaigning from a race for the best candidate to a race of who has the most money. The big two political parties are both working toward the same end but going down different paths. Neither path is in the best interest of the people of the United States.

To better illustrate what our Government deems to be the right path look at what the Government has done over the last few decades to help the citizens of the United States, better yet, what they have done just to protect the Constitutional rights of the citizens of the United States. Our borders are basically left unprotected. Our border guards are stretched to thin to properly patrol and control the borders, both north and south. Sure this country was formed by immigrants; immigration is good, as long as it’s done legally. Illegal immigration is not only a drain on our resources, including the job market, but it also teaches illegal immigrants that breaking the law is OK. This is a slap in the face to all law abiding citizens and especially to legal immigrants. Legal immigrants are suffering undue prejudices because of the influx of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigration also allows those that hire them to take advantage of their illegal status which usually results in abuses that should not be heaped on any human. Leaving our borders open has also allowed relatively unchecked trafficking of drugs, people and violence in the form of gangs wishing to expand their territory to the United States. The Government has also passed laws and supported legislation that has taken competition out of our schools and has taken control of our schools and classrooms away from the administrators and teachers. This is effectively dumbing down future generations and leaving them unprepared for the competitiveness and realities they will face later in life once they leave the security of the school system. The Government has continued to levy higher and higher taxes with little or no visible result; our roads are in disrepair, bridges unsafe, public schools falling apart and our police and emergency services undermanned. What they have done is to pass a law ensuring congress will get an automatic annual cost of living allowance, maintained ridiculously large expense accounts and funded junkets for congress and the Executive Branch all the while telling the American public that in tough times like these we must tighten our belts and do our part. Meanwhile we are all wondering how we are going to pay the rent and keep the lights on with what we have left when the Government gets their hands out of our pockets.

The current administrations bailouts, stimulus bill, Cap and Trade bill and Universal Health Care Reform bill are more examples of how the Government is continuing to grow at reckless rates. If these events do not cause Americans to open their eyes and minds to the direction the Government is headed and what their true agenda is then what will? Why should we and yes it’s WE, bailout poorly run companies? Is it because the survival of the companies is vital to the survival of the company, or is it because the companies are politically well connected? There’s no bail out for small businesses which are the major employers in the United States, and there’s little or no control of how the bailout money was spent once the checks were written. It was only after a public outcry that could not be ignored did the Government step in and make an ineffectual and half hearted attempt at stopping the wasteful spending of the bailout to the major companies. In this country we have free enterprise, free market capitalism which means every one has the opportunity to try their hand at business. Whether that business will fail or succeed is up to the abilities and business sense of the entrepreneur, it should not be determined by political connections. The companies that were failing were not well run, they offered outrageously high golden parachutes for executives whether they performed their job well or not. They had outrageous executive outings under the ruse of business trips all the while their companies were falling deeper in debt and farther behind the competition. So why should we care if they fail? The Government told that it would be devastating to the job market to have such a large employer go under and that there would be adverse effects to home owner mortgages, personal bank accounts and warranties on auto’s if these companies were allowed to fail. In a free enterprise system that is left to rule itself by allowing the good to succeed and the bad to fail there will be jobs and there will be other entrepreneurs stepping up and filling the gaps lost. The only area that really should have been a concern would be the life savings of the American citizens held by the banks. The Government already has a protection for that in place, the FDIC, but instead of stepping up to back the FDIC and protect the citizens the Government threw good money after bad, by the way, that was taxpayer money so where is that life savings going? As part of the fallout from the bailouts the Government has ended up dictating how auto companies will be run. In bailing out the mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were already in the pockets of the politicians, they are now trying to authorize Fannie Mae to buy up mortgages from failing mortgage companies which in turn can be sold to the Government when they become in danger of being foreclosed. Once the Government has them the original home owner will then pay rent to the Government. Do you want the Government to own your home? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to let these companies fail, let smart entrepreneurs step in and start good companies knowing they wouldn’t be bailed out if the failed and have mortgages bought by solvent banks that would renegotiate with the home owners that could afford to keep their homes? Or is it better to continue to promote irresponsibility both in the business world and in personal life?

After the bailout fiasco the Government passed a Stimulus Bill with the reasoning it would put more money back into our economy, save jobs, create jobs and get us out of this recession. We are now seeing near record levels of unemployment and we have a National Debt that future generations will be paying for. All over the country people are being laid off and small businesses are closing their doors. Households are tightening their belts even more and spending even less while dealing with the constant fear that they may be the next one to be laid off. The Stimulus Bill is now causing Americans that have been responsible with their spending and borrowing to wonder if they will have a job tomorrow and be able to keep their home. Even our local Governments have lost touch with reality. Local Governments will spend thousands of dollars in advertising that they are broke instead of hoarding that money and putting it to good use. Just recently the Mayor of New York City decided that during this recession it was the right time to spend thousands of taxpayer dollars to close down Broadway around Times Square to make it a no driving zone, is this the kind of project that really needs to be done now? Where is the outcry from the citizens of New York City? This is just another example of frivolous waste of tax dollars.

The latest follies of the Government are the Cap and Trade Bill and the Universal Health Care Bill. Cap and Trade is simply a way for well connected companies to capitalize on controlling the emissions of industry. Sure something should be done to reduce emissions to minimize our impact on the planet but this plan is not the way to do it. Under this plan big industries will be able to side step emission controls by purchasing permits, if they exceed their emission cap they can purchase permits from companies that do not exceed their caps, that’s where the trade part comes in. The smaller companies that cannot afford the emission reduction methods or the permits will end up having to close their doors; once again this will be the small businesses. The larger companies will continue to do business as usual and instead of absorbing the cost of the emission reduction methods or the cost of the permits they will pass that along to the end consumer, the American public. The trade of permits will be handled by companies authorized by the Government. So in the end it will once again be the American public who loses. Have you opened your eyes yet? Do you see the pattern forming?

Universal Health Care is another bill that sounds like the right thing to do on the surface but in reality is just another vehicle taking America to more Government control. Other countries have Universal Health Care and their citizens will come here to get care. The state of Massachusetts has Universal Health Care and they are going broke, they are to the point of cutting people out of the health care plan. Working legal immigrants are being cut from the State Health Care Plan in an attempt to save money, they are here legally and have become citizens, what about their rights? Once again, sure, health care in this country could be improved but this plan is a step in the wrong direction. In order to pay for this they will be cutting benefits and funding for Medicaid and increasing taxes. Granted the tax increases currently purposed are only to the riches in country, again we will penalize the successful, but how long will that be sustainable? Once the plan is passed the Government can increase taxes to anyone they want to keep the funds coming in. The plan will be run by the Government in the form of a Health Care Advisory Board. This board will be able to approve or deny coverage for any procedure they deem thereby essentially denying you your right to life. There are twists in the plan that will eventually require all Americans to be on the Government plan or they will pay hefty fines, once on the plan a Doctor will be assigned to you and this could take months or even years to occur. With the cuts to Medicaid care to our elderly will be severely reduced. Is this really a plan with our rights in the best interest of the Government?

Every American needs to look into these plans and what has been done. What you will find is more and more Government control, more Government intrusion into every aspect of our lives. If the Government becomes your landlord it will open the door to legal imminent domain, all they have to do is evict you and sell the property to whoever they want. According to the Constitution imminent domain is illegal; the Government has now found a way around the Constitution. With the Government having a vested interest in auto companies they will be able to dictate what kind of car you can drive and how many each household may have. By way of Cap and Trade the Government will be able to control how you heat, cool, and light your house, they will even be able to dictate what type of appliances you can have in your home. You will lose your personal identity and just be a subject to the Government.

Have you opened your eyes and minds yet? Are you asking where this will end and how long will it last? Are you ready to say ENOUGH!? There is no way to know where this will end, how it will end or how long it will last. The greatest fear is that it will end with America imploding and no longer being America. The bailout and stimulus have already sent our National Debt into the trillions of dollars. Current generations’ grand children and great grand children will still be paying this debt and what ever else gets added to it just to keep America going. We have taken loans from countries that we openly oppose politically and socially, specifically China. Isn’t that like selling your soul to the Devil? Only in this case it won’t be us facing the music when the debt is due, it will be our future generation, now that’s being real responsible with our legacy.

All Americans need to do their own research, read the proposals and the bills the Government is trying to pass. Look at how they are trying to pay for them, look at where the money is going. In every bill there are earmarks just to try and entice votes from those that don’t agree with the bill but want to look good to their constituents. If the bills were really in the best interest of the American people would they need to have enticements in them? Every bill should stand on its own.

All Americans need to educate themselves on the most important documents in American History, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights. Look at the facts stated in the Declaration of Independence supporting our separation from England and British control. Many of these same facts can be levied against the current Government. Look at the Constitution and learn your rights and why our Founding Fathers felt these rights should be protected. Look at the powers the Government is to have. The Constitution gives the power to the people first, the states second and the Federal Government last, the Federal Government has forgotten this and the states have become dependent on the Federal Government. Our current Government has been growing unchecked for decades regardless of which political party was in power. They have taking and using powers that are not authorized to them and they are not performing the basic duties as laid out in the Constitution. Where this will end is with a Government that will no longer resemble any thing close to the Government our Founding Fathers put into motion, it will more closely resemble Socialism or Fascism, is that the kind of Government you want to live under, or should I say serve?

The Government has already all but killed Capitalism. Some believe this to be a good thing, why should one person have a big home with a private tennis court and a different car for every day of the week while others are barely scrapping by? Would you still say this if you were the next one to invent the greatest widget ever or open the greatest restaurant ever seen only to have the Government deny you the glory of the success you have achieved? Does anyone really believe that those that are ensconced in the Government and profiting off the hard work of others are going to give up what they have just to level the playing field and spread the wealth around? No, they are going to act like the Monarchs of days gone by and continue to live in the fashion they have come accustomed to on our backs. They will continue to get the automatic cost of living increases and big expense accounts, continue to use taxpayer resources to fly off on vacations, date nights and even fly in pizza makers from St. Louis and hula dancers from Hawaii while telling us we are all tightening our belt and making sacrifices.

So what can the average American do? First is to open your eyes and minds to what is going on. Educate yourself and make decisions based on what you know to be true, not what some slick talking politician or Hollywood actor tells you. Learn what your rights are and exercise them. Remember they are rights only, not privileges or guarantees. Pay attention to all levels of Government, Local, State and Federal and get active where ever you can. Open your minds and learn about who is running for office and whether they are looking out for the rights of the people. Vote out the ones that don’t have our best interests in mind but are only there for their own personal power grab. Don’t vote for the lesser of two evils, search out, encourage, and support candidates that are not career politicians and who will actually stand up for the good of America and Americans. When voting is not an option write letters or call your representatives to make you voice heard. Organize or search out organizations of like minded individuals to promote good candidates and to give a larger voice to issues. Americans, specifically the working middle class of all races, genders and nationalities, have been the silent majority for far to long and have allowed the Government to run amuck and to run over our rights. We must all, the American public and the politicians, be reminded that we elected the Government they are suppose to work for us.

Sure we have problems in America. A larger Government with more control and out of control spending is not the answer. We must take responsibility for ourselves first and then take back the responsibility for our Nation. This is in no means a call to arms or to any violent or other illegal action. It is a call for responsibility, awareness, and for action using all legal means at our disposal. Hopefully this will also serve as a wakeup call to all levels of Government that they are headed down the wrong path and that their glory days in politics are numbered if they don’t change directions and stand up for the peoples rights. That too is up to the American people.
